The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good robot vacuum option. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
