And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot cleaner with mop hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuum reviews vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
