The iRobot Home App is easy to use, however we found it less reliable as other robotic vacuums cleaner apps. It can take a long time to download updates, and at times it's hard to determine whether the update is functioning until you've seen it in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you want a robot vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the ideal choice. This kind of robot usually has a built-in water tank, meaning they can both vacuum and mop your home simultaneously. They also have a number of additional features, including smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance and even the ability to dry and wash mopping pads. The downside is that they can be expensive when purchased at full retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.
Roborock makes some of our top robot vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and while it lacks some of the features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great choice if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save a few hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles such as wall legs and table legs which makes it a good option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough in removing dust bunnies. This is a place where most robot vacuums of lower quality fall short. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is excellent and has very few misses in corners and along walls.
Like other Roborock devices, the Q5+ can be controlled using the buttons on the device or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleanings and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones and modify your home map, or change the labels of rooms.
If you opt for the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver install, but once in place, emptying the bin is relatively easy. It also features an impressive LCD display, which is nice to have when you're creating schedules or changing settings. This isn't a necessary feature for everyone however it will assist you in keeping track of the maintenance intervals for your robot easily.

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot vacuum and mop that's impressively clever in its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design and features are some of the most advanced available however, it's also expensive.
It's a tiny base station that looks beautiful and is able to be concealed when not in use. But the station's biggest selling feature is the way it automatizes many tasks and functions that other robots will leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water and also electrolyze and warm the water. Many other robots require you to perform this.
Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robovac that I've tried that does an excellent job of removing the dust from floors with no. And it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially in the area of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robot vacuums. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the house. It can't navigate stairs as well as competitors, for instance and doesn't come with a dock that lets you to create a dedicated cleaning zone for plush carpets.

The dock must be located near an outlet and have enough space to move.
The G30 is a compact device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, which means it will be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design isn't as ostentatious when compared to rival models. It is sleek with a black finish with three buttons that are physical for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs an area in a spiral pattern over two minutes), Recharge, and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to perform cleaning that is not scheduled using voice commands.
The most important characteristic that sets the G30 apart from its competitors is the way it cleans. It uses a built-in map to create an image of the immovable objects in its path while retaining what it's cleaned and where it can't access. If it requires a recharge, it automatically returns to its starting point and begins cleaning where it started.
The elegant G30 isn't without faults, though. The iRobot Roomba 675 is more built, incurs lower recurring costs, is charged more quickly and has the same battery life while offering better performance on floors with no carpet and carpets with a low pile. It has a larger dust bin that does not require as much emptying. It also comes with border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 however is more affordable and a lot more manageable to maintain. Its smaller dust canister doesn't need emptying as often and it struggles less with heavy materials such as cereal.
