Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
If you have twins you'll require a double pushchair in order to get them from A to B. Our selection includes a variety of twin prams and double buggies with various configurations to suit your family requirements.
Choose a stroller that folds in one step and is easy to lift into your car. You could also opt for a lightweight design, especially if you're tackling busy high streets.
Side-by-Side
This is the most commonly used double pushchair. It is usually able to accommodate two children side by side. They tend to be wider than single pushchairs, meaning they are less agile on the footpaths and may be a bit difficult to navigate between the kerbs with a car attached. The extra width makes them easier to maneuver through doors and are more evenly distributed so that it is less burdensome on your back.
Many models can be used as early as birth as twin prams for newborns and will accept a carrycot, or two car seats. Some can even convert into a single mode with an additional basket (like the Cybex Venus).
One of the most impressive examples of this is the Bugaboo Donkey 5 which, in Twin Mode, allows you to fit the rear seat and a carrycot side by side. This lets you create an entirely enclosed twin space, which is ideal for infants. This pram also comes with a number of really neat accessories, such as the newborn cocoons, which can be attached to face either way (for a twin-facing pram) or facing forwards (for a normal single). It's not as lightweight like other options however it's very cleverly created.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its ingenuity and this pushchair that converts from a single to a double is no different. The clever frame can be expanded to accommodate an additional seat and you can use it as a twin from birth with the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) that provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for babies. It can also be used in a mono mode with one child, thanks to a large basket that is placed behind the seat. It has both front and rear suspension which means it can take on bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. Our reviewers chose this car as their top pick.
Available in a range of stylish colors.
Tandem
If you are planning to have twins you will require a pushchair that is tandem. This will allow both children to sit together and look at each one another. These are great for things like visiting the zoo, because the kids will be able to look at all the animals together. They're also perfect for parents who must keep one eye on their toddler and the other on their child, as they can see both at the same time.
Some tandem pushchairs offer extreme flexibility as they can convert back to single mode. This is especially useful for families with more than two children (or when your oldest child isn't a need for a buggy any longer). It means you won't be left with an empty pushchair to store away, which can be costly.
The Cybex Venus, for example is a model that can be used in mono or double mode. The frame can be expanded to accommodate a second seat. It's not the lightest pushchair however it does come with an ample basket that can be set behind the front seat in double mode or at the rear when in mono mode. The seats can be placed in a way that they face each opposite or higher up to see what the other is doing.
Other double tandem pushchairs prams like the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other, or side-by-side. The slim, sleek frame makes it easy to maneuver through doors and supermarket aisles. Some models can be used on uneven terrain or for an exercise walk due to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
A tandem pushchair can be used to carry two carrycots or a car with a buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire travel system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer and may feel less stable when you bump into kerbs and going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs also need to be dismantled in order to fit into cars.
