Why Nobody Cares About Robot Hoover
The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot hoover we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot vacuum uk mop cleaners that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning robot mop and vacuum settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
