Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet mess in one session and without the need to switch devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you running with a clean, full dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.

For example, you can choose to have the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen areas but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only minor issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A large LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs must be completed like emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is capable of running for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in standard mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and is easy to comprehend, though we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop clean, when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin auto-refilling.

The only issue I encountered to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if it's required) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these advanced features.
