1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good robot vacuum value particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the automatic vacuum and mop robot's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
