The best robot hoover (sources tell me)

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum robot vacuum that vacuums and mops hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot vacuum cleaner mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
