Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
