The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot automatic hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot cleaner with mop's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum with mop vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot cleaner with mop vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
