1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
