The Roborock Q7 Max offers strong pressure and smart mapping using apps-based no-go zones, and its 180-minute runtime is awe-inspiring. It also self-empties and automatically refills its water tank.
1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The Roomba j7+, iRobot’s smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its most significant innovation is a camera-based obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste many other robots are unable to avoid (and often go through). It's also the first robot to automatically send you a photo of the object it comes across so that you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.
The Combo J7+ is the best robot vacuums robot to mop we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly while leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot application makes it simple to control. It can schedule cleanings, and also create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't clean in areas that you don't would like. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it with a voice.
The design is also better than the other models. It has a sleek, top piece that resembles toys rather than the loud and annoying robot. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt removal System is also self-emptying which will cut down your cleaning time.
In our tests the j7+ was quick to remove dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brush roll kept the debris in one place instead of scattering it around the floor. It was able to capture small gravel, sand and even a tiny bit of grit. The majority of robots cannot achieve this feat. It did this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.
The j7+, although not as intelligent as the Roomba S9, which costs $1,217+ Self-Emptying vacuum robot; Lovewiki.faith, from iRobot, and can't clean the stairs, it's an excellent choice for those who require both a vacuum and a mop. It's not expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly.
While the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly, we've found it to be less reliable than other apps that utilize robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and often it's hard to determine whether the update is functioning until you've seen it in the action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors then a hybrid is the ideal choice. These robots come with a water tank so they can vacuum and mop at the same time. They also have a range of additional features, including smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance and even the ability to dry and wash mopping pads. They're costly at full retail but often are reduced on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Roborock makes several of our top robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not disappoint. It's their most affordable auto-empty model. While it lacks some of the features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great option if you're willing sacrifice a little to save a few hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is remarkably gentle when it comes to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it an excellent option for homes with lots of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in getting rid of dust bunnies which is a place where many cheaper robot vacuum cleaner comparison vacuums can really be a bit sloppy. The Q5+'s navigation is superb, with only a few mishaps along walls or in corners.
The Q5+, like other Roborock products can be controlled with just a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. Through the app, you can start and stop cleanings and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map, or re-label rooms.
If you opt for the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once in place emptying the bin can be done without difficulty. It has a large LCD screen, which is useful in setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This feature isn't essential for most people but it can help to keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly clever in its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is among the best in the industry however, it's costly.
Its base station looks good and hides it when not in use, and its dimensions are quite small. But the station's biggest selling point is how it automates various tasks and functions that most other robots leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and helps keep your robot charged and clean.
Its vacuuming is also impressive. It's one of the only robovacs that I've tested that do an excellent job of collecting debris from plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
However, the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or get confused in certain corners or rooms of the house. It also can't climb stairs like other competitors and doesn't come with a dock that can create a cleaning zone for carpets that are soft.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for a vacuum robot that can do it all.
If you're looking for a way to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are many other options on the market. Many of the eufy models cost substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance, is cheaper and offers a similar in-app experience with additional features such as stair climbing, a full-function dock, and better overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.
4. eufy RoboVac G30
Eufy, a Anker company is a long-standing leader of producing robot vacuums that strike a good balance between performance, features and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning on hard and carpet floors, as well as mopping capabilities for a low cost. It's simple to set up, simply connect one of the side brushes, turn it on and plug in your charging dock. The app walks you through several steps to connect it to Wi-Fi. After that, the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock near a power outlet and plenty of room to allow it to move around however.
The G30 is a compact device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, so it will fit under most couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design is less ostentatious in comparison to other models. It is sleek with a black finish with three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs an area in a spiral fashion over two minutes) Recharge and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to do unscheduled cleaning with voice commands.
The way that the G30 cleans is what differentiates it from other models. It uses a built-in map to create an image of non-movable objects that are in its path and then keeps track of what it has already cleaned and the areas it's not able to access. It then returns to the base to recharge, and then begins cleaning the area it left.
The elegant G30 has a few issues. The iRobot Roomba 675 is much better built, incurs lower recurring expenses, charges more quickly and has the same battery life while offering better performance on floors with no carpet and carpets with low pile. It has a larger dust bin, which doesn't require more emptying. It also has border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 however, is more affordable and is much simpler to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't have to be empty as often and has less difficulty with bulky items such as cereal.
