The Not So Well-Known Benefits Of Pushchair
Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
When you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair in order to get them from A to B. Our range of twin prams includes twin buggies that can be set up in various ways to meet your requirements.
Look for a stroller that can fold in one step and then easily tucked away into your car. You may also prefer an ultra-light design that is easy to maneuver and navigate especially if you have busy streets to tackle.
Side-by-Side
They are the most popular type of double pushchair that can typically seat 2 children in a row. They're generally wider than single pushchairs. This can make them less able to maneuver on paths. It may also be difficult to maneuver between kerbs when an automobile seat is installed. The extra size makes them easier to maneuver through doorways and are more evenly distributed so that it is less burdensome to carry around on your back.
They can be used as twin prams from birth, and many models can be used with a carrycot or 2 car seats. Some models can be converted to one mode with a basket on the side (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a perfect example of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat next to a carrycot. This creates a completely enclosed space for twins and is ideal for newborns. This running pram also comes with a couple of really neat accessories, including newborn cocoons that can be attached to face either way (for twin-facing prams) or facing forwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as some other options but it is really cleverly thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its unique pushchairs, and the single-to-double isn't an exception. The clever frame can be expanded to accommodate two seats and you can use it as a twin right from birth, thanks to the addition of two infant cocoons (PS59 each) that provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for babies. It can also be used in a mono mode with one child due to a large basket that is placed behind the seat. It has both front and rear suspensions that allows it to handle bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. Our reviewers picked this car as their top choice.
Available in a variety of elegant colors.
Tandem
If you are planning to have twins you will require a tandem pushchair. This will allow both children to sit together and see each other. They are ideal for prams travel System activities like visiting the zoo, as the children will be able to look at all the animals together. These are also great for parents who need to keep an eye on their toddler and baby simultaneously.
Some tandem pushchairs provide ultra flexibility as they can convert back to single mode. This is especially useful for families with more children than two (or when your oldest child isn't a need for the buggy anymore). This means that you won't be left with an empty pushchair to put away, which can be costly.
The Cybex Venus, for example, can be used either in double or mono mode. The frame can be expanded to allow for an additional seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs but it has an enormous basket that can be placed behind the front seat when in double mode, or in the back when it's in mono mode. The seats can be positioned to face each other, or one can be set higher so that it can look over the other and see what they are doing.
Other double tandem pushchairs pushchairs such as the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other, or side-by-side. The sleek, compact strollers frame makes it easy to maneuver through doors and supermarket aisles. Certain models can be used on uneven terrain, or for a jogging path due to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
Another advantage of a tandem pushchair is that it will often use two carrycots or a car seat and a buggy seat. This allows you to create a travel system right from the outset and save money on separate purchases. Keep in mind that tandems are more heavy and longer and may be less stable when bumping up kerbs and going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs prams pushchairs must also be dismantled for fitting into cars.
