The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
