1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good robot vacuum job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. The smart robot vacuums uk uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
