The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic vacuum and mop spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuum cleaner best vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
