1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
