The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum cleaners best hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles, and wash them when needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum best vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize an automatic hoover spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
